A member of the NRA, Elijah has been a champion of the liberty rights of Missourians during his time in the general assembly. Raised on a farm outside of Springfield, Elijah grew up hunting with his dad. However, it was when Elijah entered law school and began studying the second amendment that he really began to understand the importance of the 2nd amendment. Since he has been elected, Haahr has maintained a strong voting record defending the right of Missouri’s citizens to keep and bear arms.
Haahr was a supporter of the investigation into the Department of Revenue when they broke state law by turning over private information on Missouri gun owners to the federal government. He helped lead the charge to investigate the leak and hold those who were guilty accountable.
Haahr was the primary sponsor of HB 1303, the Student Religious Liberties Act, which passed the House and Senate in 2014. For sponsoring this successful legislation, Haahr was awarded a 2014 Freedometer award from the Concerned Woman of America.
